I know it's hard but do try to take some time out of your week to do something for yourself...
If like me, you enjoy being creative, you could set some time aside to do some watercolour painting. Quite often when I do this, I pop out some extra paper on the table for C because he sees what I'm doing and wants to join in.
Soon time for yourself becomes quality time together. This is one of the many reasons why I love arts and crafts activities!
I took an hour out of my sea day on our recent cruise holiday to take part in a watercolour workshop and decided what better to paint than the Briksdal Glacier that we had visited just 3 days earlier. I felt relaxed and refreshed for doing it.
Here are 5 great reasons why you should take some time out for yourself:
- Your children are more likely to relax and settle if you are relaxed.
- Seeing you happy, makes them happy.
- It gives you the chance to recharge your batteries.
- You'll have more energy when you are with your children if you take the time out for yourself.
- It's good for your children to see you as a person and not just a parent or carer for them.
What do you enjoy doing? Other ways to take time out for yourself might be to have a read or take a warm bubble bath; Have a walk or go to the gym. Whatever it is, prioritise it and look after yourself.
