Turn an empty egg carton into a beautiful bunch of spring flowers!
Here are our step-by-step instructions on how to turn an empty egg carton, that would normally get thrown into your recycling bin, into a bright and colourful bunch of Spring time flowers. They remind us of daffodils and tulips!
You will need:
-
- An empty egg carton
- Scissors (remember to ask for an adult to help, supervise, or do the cutting)
- Paints and a paint brush
- A jar of water
- Pipe-cleaners
Here's what you need to do:
1.) Cut off the bottom of your egg carton (the section that the eggs sit in)
2.) Carefully cut out each of the individual egg ‘cups’.
3.) Snip out the smaller triangles, leaving petal shapes.
4.) Use your paints to add colour to the middles and petals of your flowers. Have a jar of water to hand to help you to water down and smudge the paint, otherwise the texture of the egg carton will need quite a lot of paint. The cardboard is quite absorbant which means that the paint soaks into it.
5.) Once your flowers have dried, attatch your pipe cleaner stems. You can cut a small hole to push your pipe cleaner through.
6.) Display your flowers in a small vase. You can even use an old jam jar as a vase to display your flowers.
